About us

"Kochi Core Center Open Facility System (KOFS)" is adopted as one of "Project for Promoting Public Utilization of Advanced Research Infrastructure" supported by Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT).
KOFS is cooperated by Marine Core Research Institute (MaCRI), Kochi University and Kochi Institute for Core Sample Research, Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC).

Over 14 years experiences for interdisciplinary science in nationwide Japan are under the support of MEXT program "Joint Usage/Research center*". In addition to the result, we launched innovative KOFS in 2016.
Our primary motivation under KOFS opens up a new window into leading-edge sciences and materials from academia and industry.

There are many types of equipment to meet various needs in KOFS such as nondestructive measurement, physical property, magnetic measurement, geochemistry, X-ray analysis, spectral analysis, biological analysis, microscopes, and mass spectrometry.
Anyone could use this system for a fee, and application and inquiry are accepted at any time.

* MaCRI, Kochi University also has another system "Nationwide Joint Use system" which is designed for scientists and students in academia on a proposal basis and provided without charge.
For details, please refer to "Nationwide Joint Use System" page, HP of MaCRI, Kochi University.
