Site C0008 examined the basin sea-ward of the splay fault at the Nankai accretionary prism. The site is located ~1km seaward of Site C0004.
The basin material will provide reference properties for the section overrun by the splay fault.

CSF Depth : 50.70m

Pleistocene succession of subholizontal silt stone and sandstone. Normal faults were concentrated between 35 and 85 m CSF.
Significant tectonic structure is not observed in this section. Clear and beautiful stripes in sediment are produced by repetition of siltstone and sand stones.
